Ram brings back big steel: Grunty 320kW Cummins diesel available

Apparently, the team at Ram Trucks missed the memo where we are all supposed to be driving tiny whiny electric appliances that suck out our souls.
They’ve unveiled Ram’s 2025 model year 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty trucks, and there’s good news for those who like their off-roading on the XXXXL side.
The US market update includes the return of the off-road focussed Power Wagon and Rebel, along with a more powerful Cummins turbodiesel paired with a new eight-speed transmission.
Power Wagon And Rebel are the only two Ram Heavy Duty models with four-wheel drive as standard equipment. Each is based on the Ram 2500 and designed to excel off-road. While both are equipped for off-road travel, they achieve that goal in different ways. Both come with an AAM 9.25-inch solid front axle, a standard electronic rear locking differential, and an electronic-shift two-speed transfer case, but from there, it’s a study in contrasts.
For example, the Power Wagon has 17-inch wheels, whereas the Rebel is fitted with 20-inch wheels. The Power Wagon is shod with 285/70R17 (32.7-inch-diameter) tires, while the Rebel’s LT285/60R20 tires are slightly larger (33.5 inches in diameter). The Power Wagon features an electronic locking front differential, while the Rebel has an open front differential. Power Wagon has an Articulink suspension with a disconnecting front sway bar; the Rebel’s coil-spring suspension can be ordered with an optional auto-levelling rear air suspension.
Both models can be fitted with an optional electric winch.
As for engines, both the Rebel and Power Wagon come standard with the 6.4-litre Hemi V8, producing 302kW and 581Nm of torque. The Rebel can also be optioned with the new 6.7-litre Cummins turbodiesel engine which makes 320kW and 1,457Nm.
Mated to the new 6.7-litre Cummins is a new eight-speed ZF TorqueFlite HD transmission.
The ZF TorqueFlite HD 8AP1075 automatic features a five-clutch-pack design with only two open clutches in any gear, along with a torque converter lock featuring a turbine torsional damper for low lock-up speeds in all eight ratios.
Also new for 2025 on the Ram 2500 and 3500 Heavy Duty trucks are new wheel designs, an improved 12-inch touchscreen, a new 14.5-inch touchscreen, and an on-board power inverter that offers up to 2.4 kilowatts via two covered outlets located inside the bed. There is dual wireless phone charging for front passengers, enhanced lane-keeping assist, and an available fully digital rearview mirror.
The trucks feature updated grilles with a unique design, depending on the selected trim level.
