Rooftop tents & awnings gather favour

News and General

You can’t go anywhere on or off the road these days without seeing a well set up 4x4 rocking a Rooftop Tent and/or some sort of quick fold-out awning

For years the preferred ‘off-the-ground’ option for travellers across Africa and Australia Rooftop Tents are now growing in popularity here in New Zealand. Awnings for both temporary day shade and extra covered room to move overnight are also becoming more and more popular, as the demand for sun protection during the day and room for extra bodies or gear/utensil storage at night grows.

Specialist Australian-based 4x4 equipment manufacturer ARB has long been a leader in the design, manufacture and specifying of Rooftop Tents for many years now and the company has an updated design with new materials for better strength, rigidity and water resistance.

Manufactured from high-quality poly/cotton fabric and incorporating an Oxford polyester flysheet, the company’s rooftop tents are easily mounted to ARB’s purpose-designed roof racks, or similar, suitably load-rated rood bars made by Thule or Rhino Rack.

Super Strong 25mm anodised aluminium poles improve strength and provide corrosion resistance properties, a high-density 65mm foam mattress (with removable cover) ensures you’ll sleep soundly, insect screened windows and doors ensure the interior remains Mosquito and Sandfly-free, and a retractable aluminium ladder makes access simple and stress-free.

ARB Simpson 111 Rooftop Tent

The ARB Simpson III Rooftop Tent unfolds in minutes and because all bedding can remain inside the tent during your journey, having one frees up valuable storage space in the vehicle.

A unique bungee cord system keeps walls tucked in to assist in speeding up the pack down to get you back on the road faster.

A removable  zip-on annexe which provides added space for extra sleepers, privacy for changing and protection from the elements is now included with every Simpson III tent.

And the ‘Simpson III comes complete with a UV stabilised, laminated PVC cover for when the tent is packed away.

ARB Awnings

ARB  also produces a wide range of Awnings perfect for the adventurous 4x4 off-road explorer. These self-standing retractable shade products  attach neatly to most vehicles via the side of most roof racks and roof bars, and are conveniently stored for immediate use on arrival.
