The most exclusive Range Rover ever

News and General

Literally an odd number: only 17 Carmels will be built.

Land Rover revealed a new special edition version of its Range Rover in late August, but it’s not likely we will get to see one here in New Zealand

Only 17 Range Rover Carmel Edition are being released Friday morning, and you’ll probably never actually see one on the road.

The Range Rover SV Carmel Edition is a USD$345,000 version of the newest Range Rover. It was revealed at “Range Rover House” in Carmel, California.

The Carmel Edition is a tribute to the part of Pacific coastline the house overlooks. Beyond just putting it in the name, Land Rover says it will donate some proceeds from sales to the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary.

Range Rovers don’t get more opulent than this. The Carmel Edition has the SV’s four-seat cabin set-up, done up with blue leather and trimmed with white ceramic controls and surfaces. There’s a custom console that runs through the seating area, packing small fold-out workstations, a refrigerator, and cut-crystal glasses.

The exterior is also exceptional. It’s painted satin bronze, a Carmel Edition exclusive, and rolls on 23-inch wheels that are covered in glossy dark grey paint with bronze inserts. Road wheels just keep getting bigger, but this is the first production SUV to have 23-inches as standard.

Auto makers have long talked about how their products fit a set of golf clubs in the luggage area – the Carmel goes a step further and drops two sets of golf clubs into the vehicle. Pretty rough if the new owner’s more a tennis type of person.

The SUV is powered by the same 390kW (523bhp) twin-turbo V8 as the Range Rover SV.
To buy one, you have to swing by the house in Carmel, which is a limited-time, invite-only facility for current Range Rover owners.
