A Jeep tribute

News and General

The Jeep Wrangler is one of the oldest and among the longest-running nameplates in the US car market, first appearing in  the brand’s off-road SUV range in 1986.

But like all Jeeps, the Wrangler traces its roots back another four-plus decades to the Willys MB, which served as the US  Army’s workhorse during World War II.

Jeep is honouring the Wrangler’s legendary forefather with a new special edition, the 2025 Wrangler 4XE Willys ‘41.

The Wrangler’s military roots shine through in the olive-drab-inspired ‘41 paint colour, as well as the tough-looking 17-inch  aluminium wheels in the same hue. The tyres are 33-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 and the wheel centre cap features  a silhouette of the classic Willys MB.

Sprinkled across the exterior are an array of callbacks to the original Jeep, stylised to mimic the factory stencils that  appeared on US. Army vehicles during the war. A light blue decal along the side of the hood reads “Willys/4XE,” a black hood  decal bears the “’41,” and a blue “4XE” decal sits below the left-side taillight.

The theme continues inside with special tan cloth seats, an olive drab fabric panel on the dashboard, and ‘41 badge on the  shifter. The Willys ‘41 edition will be offered with a body-colour hardtop roof, a Sky One-Touch powered soft top, or a tan soft  top. A rear locking differential and front and rear steel bumpers are also standard.

The Willys ‘41 edition comes exclusively with Jeep’s 4xe plug-in-hybrid powertrain, which pairs a turbocharged 2.0-litre inline- four with two electric motors. The set-up produces 279kW and 637Nm of torque and can also propel the Wrangler on electric power alone for 34km.
