Crowds flock to Covi outdoor show

News and General

Getting away from it all has never been easier, as thousands of interested punters discovered at the recent Covi Motorhome Caravan & Outdoor Supershow in Auckland.

While we have yet to get to the heady state that our cousins across the Tasman currently enjoy, with huge, multi-day 4x4 and outdoor lifestyle shows in all the big cities, the Covi Motorhome Caravan & Outdoor Supershow in Auckland did a very good job this year of filling the void.

Key exhibitors

Key exhibitors in the 4WD space included Aro Brothers, Bivouac Campers, Clark-Global, Explorer Motorhomes and OZtent.

Clark-Global is an NZ-based expedition vehicle specialist which had on display one of their Mercedes Unimog-based 4WD motorhomes.

The company can provide a complete global overland service from sourcing Unimogs to designing and building the motorhome body and even shipping it to and from anywhere in the world.

You can check out what the company offers at www.clark-global.com

Explorer Motorhomes, meanwhile, specializes in adding purpose-designed camper bodies to Ford Ranger and Mazda BT-50 utes. There are three specific models, the compact Explorer Compass and slightly larger Explorer Navigator which are based on a single cab/chassis Ford or Mazda, and the Explorer Backpack, based on the Ford and Mazda Double Cab Wellside models.

See www.explorermotorhomes.co.nz for more information.

Happy campers

Helping popularize purpose-built fully set-up camping trailers here is Tauranga-based Bivouac Campers (www.bivouaccamper.co.nz) who reported strong interest and definite sales of their Kakapo camper from their presence at the Covi Show.

Long-time NZ4WD advertiser OZtent also had a big presence at the show, displayed  a range of the ever-popular OZtent offerings available here.

Finally, If you read about trailer and towing specialist Aro Brothers Ltd’s new British-designed electronic-braked towing A-Frames in the April issue of NZ4WD you had a chance to check them out for yourself on the company’s stand at the Covi show.
