A massive resource of knowledge for the industry and the enthusiast, and an equally massive product range featuring many of the most respected brand in steering and suspension components: Autolign is unique in the New Zealand automotive market.
The company caters to 4WD enthusiasts and to off-road motorsport fanatics equally, and works through retail networks to ensure that the parts needed for a build, upgrade or maintenance project are readily available.
Autolign began in a single workshop in the 1950s, and has grown hugely since that time. It is the only company with that much history – and experience – behind it.
Autolign supplies the Mag and Turbo chain, NoCams, Hyperdrive and other retailers with quality products from major component manufacturers.
Through its Mount Wellington specialist workshop Racelign, the company caters directly to the needs of the competition community, working equally with 4WD, rally and race customers and collectors of classic cars and 4WDs that need parts not commonly available.
Separately, there is the Shock Shop network, which enables the group to meet the day to day needs of a much wider customer base: families and commuters who need reliable ‘daily drivers’.
For Autolign, there are big plans afoot for 2022: a significant expansion in the range of steering and suspension products available, with a new catalogue available for trade customers in March.
The company’s Lift Junkie range will be refreshed and grow substantially. Lift Junkie has been around for four years, supplying 4WD owners and workshops specialising in 4WD gear from mild to wild.
Where once the modification and customising of cars was all about lowering and speed work, the rise of the SUV and ute to lead the sales statistics in New Zealand has driven massive interest in individualising these vehicles for their intended use.
Lift Junkie offers kits in three levels – starting with owners looking to do a little work, the Economy kits focus on coil springs, axle lift blocks and u-bolts at a price point around $500.
The mid-point caters to more serious owners, creating 50mm (two-inch) lifts with replacement shock absorbers, shackles, bushes, coil and leaf springs to build into a 4WD ute or SUV without triggering the need for a Low Volume Certificate. These kits range from $1600-1800.
At the more extreme end there are kits to achieve 76mm (three-inch) lifts – or even more. These kits do require a Low Volume certificate and this is where Autolign does owners a favour by making the kit an integrated set of properly engineered components. Upper control arms, diff spacers, driveline changes are all, in the package. These modifications can run from $4,000-6,500.
Much of the new product will bear the Lift Junkie brand, and components are sourced in consultation and partnership with major component makers.
Also on the way is a 4WD accessory range: bash plates, recovery kits, high lift jacks and snatch-straps.
Covid-willing, Autolign will be at the Kumeu show in February with show cars and an Autolign-equipped 4WD.
When it comes to 4WD modification, Autolign emphasises the need to work from a full package that has been designed and engineered specifically for the vehicle.
The Autolign difference is in that knowledge base – nobody can match that 70-year presence in the industry.
